Iris is one of the 32 Tempos currently available in HOURS. It is unlocked by completing the game with Prophet, and have obtained the Hands of Time.
Usage[]
When activated, everything (including yourself) will stop for 1 second, every entity in the world excluding the player will project translucent "visions" of itself leading to its new position and action in 2 seconds. This includes enemies, projectiles, bosses, and allies (Projectiles created by the player directly will not be shown in Iris' effect, but projectiles fired by summons will be shown). "Visions" of other entities are determined as though the player would have continued moving in the currently held direction for the two seconds that are shown. "Visions" created by Iris will fade away over a period of 2 seconds. Enemies and projectiles cannot change their actions from what Iris predicts unless directly interfered with by the player.
Iris activates instantly, and has a cooldown of 5 seconds. When Overclocked, it becomes passively active, seeing enemy actions 0.75 seconds in the future.
Tips and Trivia[]
Tips[]
- Iris is great for setting up attacks or dodging. When used, the enemy is guaranteed to move towards what is predicted, meaning the user can be prepared with a heavy-hitting attack. This tempo works especially well with the Prophet or the Visitor, and when fighting Ronin Alpha because of his hard to predict movement.
- It's useful to shoot projectiles with long start up time, such as Vestige's snipe move, at the predictions, as you can aim for where the enemy will move to. It's not recommended to use Auto-Aim paired with Iris for this reason, as it will aim for the opponent, who will have moved to the prediction and dodge the attack.
- The timestop part was added to accommodate for lag for when the "visions" are generated, also to give the player a short time to analyze the "visions".
- When you use the Overclocked version of this tempo, the predicting is a little broken because the "visions" of the enemies attack you in real time.
Notes[]
- Using actions that stagger, stun or otherwise interrupt enemy actions will cause the prediction to be inaccurate - for you have, to some extent, changed the future.
Trivia[]
- Iris's visual effect and mechanics may be based on certain depictions of Epitaph's in JoJo's, wherein the user sees red silhouettes of their opponents showing their moves before they make them.
- Iris is viewed by many as the least useful tempo in the game. However, it can be great for surviving Resident Mind's first phase.
- An update in 6th April 2022 has completely reworked OC Iris. Previously, it was simply a cooldown reduction of the original Iris.
