Theres 3 categories for these stuff:

Physical: Stuff like the thing that forms Aqua Resin

Biological: Living beings that are not meant to exist/from another universe

Lucid: Dreams/Hallucinations that have their own mind.

There are 5 (theoretical) ways that Paradox stuff can enter the earth:

1. Physical & Biological: Grid Rifts (basically rifts from different universes with different physics)

2. Biological: Ruins from the Aegis Meteor (context: the earth used to be normal until this thing struck it)

3. Physical & Lucid: Explosions (yeah)

4. Lucid: The Mindspace Machine (basically a machine someone invented to explore someone's conscience as physical space,)

5. Lucid: The Affliction

It is not recommended to interact with Paradox stuff because theres a risk of losing your life.

unrelated to lore: it started as a recreation of another character, but it went to the point of being so unrecognizable that i said "screw it, its my character now"

Aqua Resin, or "Natural Aerogel" as they call it, is a jelly like substance formed near oceans. Scientists are unsure how it's formed, but its many uses might help us understand it more.

How (they think) it's formed is that this type of aerogel is unattended seafoam. It gets mixed up with some "paradox substance" (will specify what that is in the next part) and it turns this seafoam into a jelly like substance. The jelly washes up on beaches and it dries in 5 years (assuming it is undisturbed in that period), turning it into some weird-ass cloy of jellyfish and aerogel.

There's whole beachside fields of of this stuff lying around. Corporations are figuring out how to farm it.

It acts almost identical to normal aerogel except because it's a cloy with jellyfish in it, it has to be purified before using. Other than that. It is toxic to bugs, so a shredded up version of this aerogel is used for pesticides.

• The Geneva Convention has banned all use of unpurified Aqua Resin in war.

• Some is used in later models of Subspace Tripmine.

• Some unpurified Aqua Resin has the same properties as "Paradox Substance"

• Unpurified Aqua Resin counts as a neurotoxin.

• Liquid and gas versions of Aqua Resin exist.

The Affliction is a formless disease that can cause any sort of symtoms HEAVILY dependent on the host (not talking about hours btw) or in better terms...victim's genes. The Affliction will adapt itself by the "victim"'s surroundings and genomes to interfere with the system as much as possible. It's hard to identify the Affliction unless in very late stages as, in early stages, it disguises itself as the flu. The Affliction is transmitted by contaminated fruit/soil that absorbed the Affliction (the affliction doesnt affect plants, but plants can still be diagnosed).

Stage 1:

The "victim" will have the symtoms of the flu, fever, sore throat bla bla bla

Stage 2:

This stage happens a week after contracting.

The Affliction starts taking visible form. Most commonly thorns/tendrils on the back and hands, but it can be ANYTHING. (garry's mod missing texture? thats possible.)

Stage 3:

This stage happens a month after contracting.

The "victim" starts feeling hostile, and will contract the symtoms of scizophrenia. The visible form of The Affliction worsens.

Stage 4:

This stage happens 2 months after contracting.

The "victim" becomes nothing but a hollow shell of their former self, becoming insane at best, becoming a slave of the Affliction at worse. 8 months after reaching this stage the "victim" dies.

Treatment

The Affliction can only be treated/cured at stage 1-2, after that it is untreatable.

The Affliction can be treated by drinking coconut water or eating coconut meat. Scientists theorize that they can develop a cure with coconut water.

The Affliction is a sentient being.
